It was an amazing experience to get to share God’s love, kindness and learning as we served the Instructors/Participants along with our crew during the month of June in Dakar, Senegal. Please review the video for more detailed information about what we were doing.
In my new role of Dining Team leader we fed over 1000 meals per day to cover the crew, participants and instructors. It was very challenging as we were hit with a very infectious GI Virus and Covid that took out 1/2 of our Food Services team as well as the crew. So we delivered many meals to quarantine people as well as serving in the dining room.
We had a relief just as we sailed out on July 1st with no one on board sick but Covid hit again when we landed in Tenerife on July 5th.
The highlight of the trip was being able to visit with a trainees that in the first week learned about Neonatal Resuscitation. They went back to their hospital to work and were able to save 2-3 babies lives in the first week back at work. They returned the final week of our visit to learn how to train people in the same skill they used as a train the trainer opportunity. The Lord blessed with physical lives saved because of our trip and a nurse trainee that felt the love and care of a people who follow God and were able to help them help others.
Prayer requests:
- That we continue to stay healthy.
- That the Lord will provide more crew even in a time where we are not serving a country. This wilderness time is useful to encourage and build a strong foundation community based in Christ but many people only want to serve when we are in a country providing medical care. Hope and Healing is for our crew to be filled up with the wisdom, power and grace of the Holy Spirit prior to going to a country so building that foundation has been a struggle without adequate crew.
- The Lord will sustain the long term crew aboard and we will continue to love and serve each other as we grow into the community and vessel the Lord will use for his glory.
Thanksgiving for your continued support and prayers, somedays I feel like Elijah in the wilderness and you who support me are the ravens bringing me good news, prayers and nourishment as I continue to seek the Lords direction and ability to serve in this ministry as He has need of.
Blessings on your week and let me know how I can pray for you.
