A Journey to Leaky Vessels

To someone who is about to embark on an adventure living on a Ship for several years the normal reaction to the term “Leaky Vessels” is rather negative. But this journey is anything but ordinary, normal or typical.

Mercy Ships is a 40+ year non-profit organization that specializes in “Leaky Vessels” or shall I say vessels that pour out (leak) upon others the resources, blessings, hope and healing that the Lord has poured into them. I am blessed to have the opportunity to join them in their journey on a brand new ship called the Global Mercy. She will provide many ways of passing donations from individuals and corporations to build opportunities for enhanced lives to our brothers and sisters in Africa through:

  • Surgeries that correct physical restrictions to a more enjoyable and prosperous life. Examples:
    • Cataract’s
    • Cleft Pallet
    • Club Foot
    • Tumor Removal
    • Dental
  • Training of Medical Professionals
  • Renovating Medical Facilities to Standards
  • Agricultural Enhancement Programs
  • Corporate Donations of needed Medical Equipment

This is not the beginning of my journey to leaky vessels, I believe that we are all called to be vessels to pour out what has been given us, to others. In the Bible, Acts 9:15 states, “But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:” KJV.

Believing and accepting Christ as our Savior brings the fullness and power of his Love, Grace and Mercy into us. If I held onto that I would probably have burst, but the sharing of those blessings has personally brought me much joy and allowed me to encourage others I meet on the journey. We are not all called to serve in the same capacity but I do believe we can all serve and love on those around us.

This is my introduction and first attempt at a blog post, so please overlook it’s defaults. I will be updating you on the progress of the ship and my journey along the way in future posts. Please walk along with me on this journey, share the ways that you have or are being a Leaky Vessel to others around you and watch as the waters (blessings) that pour from you bring life to those you impact.

God Bless You
